4 Must Have Fitness Items

A workout at home is as good as a workout at the gym with the right fitness items. The necessary items cost a lot less than a gym membership and require a lot less space to be stored and used. Here are some must have items:
  1. Swiss Ball
    The Swiss Ball is the most basic, inexpensive and necessary item that every girl should have. The Swiss Ball is used create instability, forcing your stabilizer muscles to be activated. Stabilizer muscles make you stronger, develop your core and aid in better performance of more advanced exercises. In addition, the Swiss Ball can be used to perform numerous exercises that can only be preformed on the bench. These include dumbbell chest press, dumbbell chest fly, pushups, etc.

  2. Dumbbells
    When you walk into a gym, you would probably see about a hundred pieces of equipment. These large machines are really not necessary. In fact, when we personal train clients, we rarely use any of the machines. You get a much better workout by using dumbbells. Dumbbells allow you to perform numerous exercises and train multiple muscle groups as well as train muscles that are often not active when using large machines.
    Cost: $1/lbs.
  3. Tensor Band
    This item is a must have. It mimics the cables found at gym. You can purchase different levels of tension for different exercises. The level of tension can be differentiated by color. These bands are so light you can easily pack them in your suitcase when traveling. Exercises include rowing, shoulder fly, bicep curl, tricep kickbacks etc.

  4. Mat
    The mat is great for performing laying down exercises. It will provide better support for your back than laying down on the floor. You can purchase either a yoga mat or a regular exercise mat from any fitness store. The yoga mat is a little thinner where as the regular mat has more padding. The mat is necessary for a lot of abdominal exercises as well as stretching.
    Price: $20.
You can achieve a full body workout using these items. Using the right items with the right intensity should give you a great burn and cause you to break a sweat. That is the essence of great workout.
