Maximize your fat burn

Many people spend hours walking on a treadmill or using an elliptical. While these methods may work to an extent in burning body fat, if you want to optimize your results then you should lift weights.

Weight training builds muscle and muscle revs up your metabolism and as a result you will burn more calories. If it helps you put it in to perspective, think of it like this: muscle needs food to survive where as body fat needs nothing to survive and is simply stored.

To maximize fat loss follow this structure:

Step 1: Preform 5-10 minutes of medium intensity cardio - this will warm up your muscles and get the blood going through your body and improve your overall calorie burn.

Step 2: Preform a weight training routine for about 35-40 minutes - this is when you build your muscles and burn the glycogen that is circulating in your blood.

Step 3: Preform 20-30 minutes of medium to higher intensity cardio. Now that you have burnt off majority of your glycogen stores in your blood, your body will draw energy from your fats.

In conclusion, the best time to do cardio is after your weight training routine. Your overall calorie burn will be maximized and your muscles will remain lean and shapely. If you follow this routine 3-4 times a week your are bound to burn lots of body fat. That is given that your nutrition is good!
