Body fat is the main reason that your six-pack doesn’t show! Yes, blame it on body fat. Beneath body fat lies a beautiful set of abdominals waiting to shine through. So yes, you have abs, just like everyone else. The trick is to make them visible. And the path to that is through a clean diet, cardiovascular exercise and toning exercises.

Clean Diet: The equation is simple – calories-in vs. calories-out. In order to burn body fat, you need to be eating fewer calories than you are consuming. Creating this deficit allows your body to draw from your stored body fat. One trick to minimizing your calorie intake is by consuming more protein which will keep you fuller. Begin with a big breakfast, a medium lunch and a smaller dinner with plenty of healthy snacks in between.

Cardiovascular Exercise: You need to perform cardio at least 4-5 times a week for a duration of 30-45 minutes. It’s best to work at a medium to higher intensity and break a sweat. Interval training is also excellent for fat burn - ranging your intensity level will allow you to work hard and take breaks while getting a good calorie burn.

Toning Exercises: For tight abs, crunches are not enough! You need to train your full body with mainly dumbbells to really tone your abs. Try exercises such as front squats, dumbbell rows, skull crushers on the ball and walking lunges. Additionally train your abs by doing the traditional ab exercises to really define your midsection.
