Gym Germs

Do you use a towel to lay on when using equipment at the gym?

Do you use a towel? You really should! Next time you are at the gym take a look around and count the number of people that are using a towel on top of the equipment they use. Chances are, most of them don't. On average, each person may use 8-12 machines during a workout. Now multiply that by 500 for a total number of people coming into the gym daily. Each person has now left their sweat and germs on each piece of equipment. Yuck!

If that doesn't gross you enough think about this. Most gyms wipe down the equipment at the end of the day which means that if you come at 5pm for a workout, you will collect everyone's germs from the morning till the evening! Also, it is very important to wash your hands after handling dumbbells, bars, medicine balls and Swiss balls. This type of equipment never gets wiped down as it would take forever to do so, so wash up!

Protect yourself and use a towel!
