Best Way to Train Your AbsA lot of you have been emailing me and asking me how to train your abs. Well first off I recommend you try my Killer Ab workout. If that workout is a challenge then try the Flat Abs Workout. By challenge it could be back pain, neck pain or not being able to reach 1/2 of the recommended reps. So start with the Flat Abs Workout and then move on to the Killer Abs. When training your abs, it is always a great idea to begin by training the lower abs first. By targeting the lower abs you are working your TVA muscle which is the first ab (inner most layer) muscle in the body. Focus on those lower abdominals by doing leg raises, one-foot-on-another raises, leg curl-ins etc. If you find that there is too much pressure on your back then bend your knees when doing any exercises where you are raising your legs. Also use your hands to support your lower back by placing them under your butt. Next focus on your obliques. They are then next layer up overlapping eachother and covering the TVA muscle. I really like bicycles, oblique crunches. russian twists, etc. Finally focus on your upper abs. The rectus abdominus which is considered "the 6 pack" is the most visible layer of muscle. For this muscle try doing forward crunches with the legs up or down depending on the intensity you would like. Training your abs in this order hits the muscle fibers from each angle and allows them to develop equally. It will also allow for your lower abdominals to get as much toning as your upper. I find that often my clients that focus on the lower abs and obliques end up getting a great six pack all around without even having to train their upper abs. |
